I have read various opinions about this. Some say that submitting your site to Google is like begging them: “Please notice me!”
But is it true? Let me tell you the advantages and disadvantages of submitting your site to Google..
Well, first of all, Google is not a person, it’s a company and on a technical level it’s practically a robot. It doesn’t have any feelings, so neither should you. It’s a bunch of algorithms processing hundreds of millions of sites every single day and won’t care a bit about yours whether you submit it or not.
I think anyone saying that you should wait for being noticed by Google because it gives you some kind of advantage is trying to personify a machine which doesn’t make any sense. Google doesn’t have any feelings about you or your site.
On the other hand Google has a lot of programmers who write these algorithms. They work for a company that would like to have as many satisfied customers as possible.
Who are these customers? On one hand they are the users who are trying to find relevant hits for their searches. On the other hand it’s those who make content and may want to join programs like Google Adwords.
You, as a site owner fall into the second category. And I think that as long as you create any content that may be useful to anyone, you should definitely submit your site.
So what are the disadvantages of submitting your site to Google?
- I can’t really think of any
What are the advantages?
- You will have access to lots of useful information and may link your site easily to Webmaster tools, Google Analytics, Adsense and Adwords
